Shadow-Work (Myers-Briggs)
Feelings of grief, anger, jealousy, resentment, blame, guilt and shame can arise at any time from the dark, denied part within us. Carl Jung called this our Shadow and everyone has a Shadow, which begins to develop in childhood when we start to hide away our negative feelings as we learn to build our ego. Our Shadow rises up when we feel an inexpiable dislike of someone, when we uncover a long-buried, unacceptable trait in ourselves, or when we feel overwhelmed by an emotion such as anger, envy, guilt, hurt or shame.
Groups and nations also have a collective Shadow which can lead to actions like racism, creating scapegoats and even war. This workshop looks at the darker side of human nature and what we can do to help ourselves from becoming overwhelmed by our Shadows.
